A truly healthy diet

  • doesn’t exclude foods
  • is made up of foods, not numbers
  • is varied and flexible
  • is not restrictive
  • allows you to trust your body
  • is not obsessive
  • doesn’t use food as a reward or punishment
  • doesn’t have to be “perfect”
  • allows you to live your life, but it is not your life
  • does not exclude any food group
  • consists of foods that make you feel energized and healthy

fits the description of macrobiotics perfectly.

You Are Not Your Body; but you do have a body
It seems to me that more and more people are coming to this realization that as human beings, we are much more than simply our body, our machinery (in addition to realizing that our brain is part of that machinery…).  However, it also seems to me that many of these same people are overlooking the significance of the fact that we do have a body.
It seems to me that many see the body as something to overcome, and that it serves no purpose other than this (or something like that).  But from a truly wholistic perspective, the body is just as much a part of us as any other part, and it should not be neglected.
Notice that, in the story of Jesus, no body was left behind.  In macrobiotic philosophy, there are seven types of human death, one of which does not include physical death.  In reading Carlos Castaneda, I discovered that the Yaqui Indians of America seek to leave this world at a time of their choosing, and when they do so it is said that two crows arrive, and three depart.
So, then, yes, you are not your body, but as it is a part of you, one might consider that it is worthwhile to honour, nourish, and protect it through proper diet, exercise, rest, and attention.

jotter-journal:

People are led to believe that Goats’ milk comes from happy animals on small rural farms. Well, that’s what the industry wants you to believe. Many people switch from cows’ milk to goat because they think it’s more humane. The irony is that all the problems that exist to produce cows’ milk exist in goat farming, too. Mothers and kids are separated after a few days so her milk can be taken. Females are used to replenish the herd, but males can’t produce milk - they are either killed at birth or kept for meat. Please watch and share this short video and make others aware of the truth. (m)http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BKQl5lgSd4k

Mood drugs leak into waterways, make fish antisocial
Drugs taken by humans can have unintended side effects — on fish, in the natural environment. Turns out, fish fed extremely low concentrations of an antianxiety drug eat more quickly, and act bolder and more antisocial than their un-medicated peers, a new study finds.
