…It’s definitely me.  I point fingers but there’s noone there to blame…

…temporary is my time, ain’t nothing on this world that’s mine, except the will I’ve found to carry on.  Free is not your right to choose, it’s answering what’s asked of you, to give the love you find until it’s gone…

Words Create

Many believe that we use words to describe our reality. This is folly. As human beings our words have power. Really. Many things point to this.

In science fiction - the Will & the Word - as a teen I read a number of David Eddings’ books; two series’ in particular are relevant here: the Belgariad and the Mallorean. In both series’ sorceress create using ‘the Will and the Word’ - the Will (which includes focus/ directed attention) to make something happen, and the spoken Word as catalyst.

In linguistics - notice that the word we use to describe how words are formed is ‘spell’. Also notice that in many works of fiction, magicians cast spells by way of ‘incantations’ - which are no more than series’ of words.

In the bible - “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” - John 1:1 - Notice that prior to each creation, God spoke, “Let there be _” and then there was. It is said we were created in the image of God, and this is how: our words create, just like His.

So perhaps you may wish to consider what it is you are doing the next time you say something like “I’m stupid” or “I don’t deserve _” or “I’ll never be _”. In speaking such words, you create it for yourself.

I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. Robert Heinlein, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (via heartmindawakening)

[As] the worst slave-owners were those who were kind to their slaves, and so prevented the horror of the system being realised by those who suffered from it, and understood by those who contemplated it, so […] the people who do most harm are the people who try to do most good, while preserving the system. Oscar Wilde’s rebuttal of charity and philanthropy. (via arvintumbles)
